6:30 PM Program - LGBTQ Foster Paenting & Adoption

Of the 600,000 same-sex couple households in the United States, 115,000 have children. Some people say that children need both a Mother and a Father to raise them. But there are many others who believe that gender does not matter when parenting. Megan McDaniel, Greenville, SC is an educator. She obtained her Foster Parent License in 2016, and the rest is history. She and her partner have fostered 28 children. Megan will share her experiences as a foster parent and the need for more couples to consider this noble endeavor.

Megan a native New Yorker, entered the foster care system at 15 and through her experiences ended up in Charleston, SC. She enrolled in the GED program, attended college majoring in Criminal Justice to become a correctional officer. Eventually, Megan returned back to school to become a teacher with the intention of teaching at Title One Schools only. She and her partner adopted their first child in 2016.
