Speaker: Bishop Gary Rivas In the 21st Century, where is the Southern Methodist Church theologically on the issue of Homosexuality?

We will hear from South African Bishop, Pastor and Theologian BISHOP GARY RIVAS, The Methodist Church of SOUTHERN AFRICA.

Rivas was born and raised in Germiston and felt a calling to ministry early on in his life and began training as a Methodist Minister in 1996. He served in Germiston and then East London, after which he was stationed in the Fourways Circuit.

Bishop Rivas served as pastor to the late Winnie and Nelson Mandela In 2003, he planted Lonehill Methodist Church, now known as Gracepoint. It grew quickly from a tiny congregation that met in a school hall, to a congregation with thousands of members who make an impact on the community.

Presently, Bishop Rivas is serving on loan in South Carolina at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Camden, SC.
