FACT vs FICTION - Debunking Anti LGBTQ Religious Arguments

6:30 PM Program - FACT vs FICTION

Back by Popular Demand, OPENINGS welcomes Pastor Tiffany Adams presenting valuable information for LGBTQ+ persons of faith to respond to the classic "Clobber Verses" still used against us.

Fact vs Fiction: Does the Bible Condemn Same-Sex Relationships? Passages from the Bible are often used to justify efforts to suppress the acceptance and rights of LGBTQ persons. The Misinterpretation of these scriptural passages has caused us to miss their real message. For example:

  1. Do you know what Jesus actually said about same-sex relationships?
  2. Did you know that the word “abomination” does not mean “the worst of all sins?”
  3. Did you know that the word “homosexual” was never used in any version of the Bible until 1946?
  4. Did you know that the word “sodomy” appears nowhere in the original Hebrew or Greek Testaments, and that a true “Sodomite” is simply a citizen of Sodom?

Join us on July 27 as Pastor Tiffany Adams explores what “those” scriptures are REALLY saying (or not) about same-sex relationships versus what you’ve always been told. Come with your questions and leave empowered!

Pastor Tiffany Adams is the founder of The Way Worship Center, where she and her wife, R.G. Adams serve as Senior Pastors. GLAAD (Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) named her “One of 6 South Carolinians Accelerating Acceptance for LGBT People.”

Pastor Tiffany Adams is the content creator of the “Fact vs Fiction” workshop debunking the religious arguments surrounding homosexuality in scripture. Her workshop has been presented at regional colleges and universities, most notably, Georgia State University and most controversially, Newberry (Christian) College and South Carolina State University (HBCU). You can see and hear parts of Pastor Tiffany’s story in GLAAD's short documentary film entitled GLAAD Presents: State of Change – South Carolina; that looks at the lives of LGBT people and allies living in the Southern state.

She was also selected to present at HRC’s Time to Thrive national conference in Washington, DC and presented at The Gay Christian Network’s National Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. Pastor Tiffany currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbia Film Society/Nickelodeon Theatre to assist in the expansion of their diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the organization’s infrastructure and programming.
